The shock of Conine’s first sighting of Antonio Gaudi’s world-famous cathedral in Barcelona inspired this painting. The complex stone towers seem to grow like stone out of the earth, glowing gold soft afternoon sunlight. The artist has imbued them with spirit, so they seem to reach up to the heavens through the soft treeline where one lone street lamp offers a key to the towers’ relative size.
