In this sculptural still life the artist creates a series of rich textures, emphasizing the differences between lush wall hanging, rich fabric, and cool smoothness of the china pitcher. Colors seem to melt together in the warm light. The arrangement was a class assignment for Conine’s students, which drew the teacher to capture the scene himself.
